Ethan Sundar Sparks Comeback, but Saints Fall 8-5 to Oilers on Friday Night

In a high-scoring match between the Spruce Grove Saints and the Okotoks Oilers, the Oilers emerged victorious with an 8-5 win. 

The game started with a flurry of goals from the Oilers, who quickly took a 3-0 lead within the first three minutes. However, Ethan Sundar responded strongly, netting two goals to bring the Saints within one. Tristan Baumung then scored for the Saints, ending the period with the game tied at 3-3.

The momentum continued in the second period as Ryan Johnstone of the Saints scored, putting them ahead 4-3. Dean Spak of the Oilers answered back, tying the game at 4. The Oilers then surged ahead with three unanswered goals, reclaiming the lead at 7-4. However, Alexander Babich (Chicago, IL) managed to score a power play goal in the final minutes of the period, giving the Saints hope with a score of 7-5.

In the third period, despite the Saints’ efforts to mount a comeback, it was Kade Turner of the Oilers who sealed the victory with an empty-net goal, securing an 8-5 win for the Okotoks Oilers.
