Gabriel Kenny Added to Saints’ Active Roster as Black Ace

Spruce Grove Saints General Manger Rob Sklaruk announced today the addition of defenseman Gabriel Kenny to the active roster as a ‘Black Ace’.

In accordance with BCHL rules, each team is permitted to designate three players as ‘Black Aces’ that can be added to teams’ active rosters after the trade deadline. To be eligible, players must have signed a recruitment letter for the upcoming 2024-2025 season – a requirement which Kenny has fulfilled with the Saints. The only other current Saints ‘Black Ace’ is Josh Polak, who was added to the active roster on March 19th, 2024.

Hailing from Ardrossan, AB, Kenny brings his talents to the Saints following a standout season with the Shawnigan Lake U18 Prep club in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL). As a defenseman, he recorded 18 points (4 goals, 14 assists) across 25 games.

Standing 6’3” and weighing 182 pounds, the 2006-born blueliner provides physicality and defensive dependability to the team’s defensive group.

After facing off against the Brooks Bandits tonight, the Saints will continue with their road trip tomorrow night in Blackfalds. They’re set to play in Blackfalds once more next Saturday before wrapping up the season on home ice on Sunday, April 7th at 4:00 pm.
