Spruce Grove enters their one-game weekend following a Tuesday night affair as they battled back to force overtime but fell by a 3-2 score in the extra period to the Cranbrook Bucks at Grant Fuhr Arena. Bodee Weiss was once again outstanding in goal for the Saints, turning aside 40 of the 43 shots thrown his way in his 4th overtime defeat of the season.
The Warriors finish off a weekend in Alberta after earning a 5-3 win over the Sherwood Park Crusaders at Randy Rosen Rink on Friday night. Ian Alonso, Kelsen Podworny, Caden Kemkaran-Humble, Ben Miller and Sam LeDrew each found the back of the net to help the Warriors to the win while Bor Glavic turned aside 22 of the 25 shots throw his way in his 6th win with the team.

Who’s Hot:
Spruce Grove:
- Bodee Weiss – Goaltender – Medicine Hat, Alberta
Since being acquired by the Saints from the Langley Rivermen, the netminder has been outstanding in three games played despite having yet to secure a victory, taking a pair of overtime losses and coming on in relief in his first appearance on January 14th. The Medicine Hat product has compiled a 2.82 goals against average and a .934 save percentage in his first 170 minutes as a Saint, including a pair of performances where he posted 40 or more saves.
- Ryan Johnstone – Forward – Pickering, Ontario – Lindenwood University
Another game against the Bucks meant another time to find the back of the net for the 20-year-old forward, who has seven of his 14 goals this season coming against Cranbrook. Riding a four-game point streak into Saturday night, the Lindenwood commit will look to carry that momentum to helping his team to a victory to open the month of February. Johnstone has registered three goals and an assist for four points during his point streak and had a strong January with points in six of his seven games throughout the month.
West Kelowna:
- Sam LeDrew – Forward – Stillwater Lake, Nova Scotia – St. Lawrence University
Goals in three straight games for LeDrew sees him leading the Warriors with 18 this season while the forward carries a four-game point streak into Saturday night’s contest against the Saints. A St. Lawrence commit, LeDrew has posted four goals and an assist for five points during that span while also collecting points in seven of his last eight games and scoring in six of those matchups. In games against the Saints this season, the Stillwater Lake, NS native has been outstanding, posting three goals and two assists for five points in three head-to-head meetings this season.
- Bor Glavic – Goaltender – Jesenice, Slovenia
One of the biggest keys (literally, standing at 6’4″) to the Warriors strong play of late has been goaltender Bor Glavic, who comes into Saturday’s game having won six of his seven starts on the season since joining the club right after Christmas. The Slovenian netminder has posted a 2.36 goals against average and a .918 save percentage over his eight games in West Kelowna and could be making back-to-back starts after turning aside 22 of the 25 shots he faced last night in Sherwood Park en route to his 6th win as a Warrior.
The Saints and Warriors conclude their season series on Saturday night at Grant Fuhr Arena with a 7:00 PM puck drop. Tickets are available for purchase online at tickets.sprucegrovesaints.ca.
