Who To Watch For:
Spruce Grove:
- Owen Leckelt – Forward – Sherwood Park, Alberta
The first year forward factored into both of the Saints goals on Saturday night in West Kelowna as Leckelt opened the scoring in the 1st period and set up Spruce Grove’s second goal of the night. The Sherwood Park product posted his second multi-point game of the season with his effort on Saturday, joining a two-assist game that Leckelt earned in the middle of November.
- Matheson Mason – Forward – Toronto, Ontario – Lake Superior State University
After making his return to the lineup in the middle of December, Mason has earned points in three of his last six games including earning an assist in each of his last two contests while earning 10 points in 19 games this season. The LSSU commit earned points in back-to-back games for the third time this season.
Sherwood Park:
- Connor Gengle – Defenceman – Grand Rapids, Michigan – Lindenwood University
The blueliner ranks 2nd in the league amongst defencemen in points, sitting at just under a point-per-game at 31 in 32 games and is coming off of one of his strongest performances of the season. The Lindenwood commit has earned points in four of his last five games, registering four goals and six assists for 10 points in that span while three of those contests have been three-point games.
- Lucas Brennan – Forward – Winnipeg, Manitoba – Bemidji State University
In eight games with the Crusaders since being traded from the Vernon Vipers, Brennan has tallied five goals in that span. The Bemidji State commit has posted those five goals in his last five games, including a four-game goal scoring streak that was snapped on Saturday in Vernon while finding the back of the net three times in a weekend home-and-home against the Saints just before the holiday break.
The Saints and Crusaders play the sixth of their seven-game season series on Friday night at Grant Fuhr Arena. Puck drop is slated for 7:00 PM with tickets available for purchase online on tickets.sprucegrovesaints.ca.
