Who To Watch For:
Spruce Grove:
- Keifer Miller – Forward – Banff, Alberta – College of the Holy Cross
It was a successful trip to BC for the Banff, AB native as Miller racked up points in each of the three games the Saints played in the Lower Mainland and carries a three-game point streak into Sunday afternoon’s affair. The Holy Cross commit has a goal and three assists for four points over that stretch, including a pair of assists on Friday night in Surrey.
- Josh Polak – Forward – Strathcona County, Alberta
Scoring his team-leading fifth goal of the season on Friday against the Eagles, Polak added an assist in his game as well to bring him up to nine points on the season, also pacing his team in that regard. The Strathcona Country, AB native has a knack for scoring against Penticton in the team’s one and only meeting so far to open the season where he had a goal and an assist in the contest as Spruce Grove fell just short.
Penticton:
- Ryden Evers – Forward – Burnaby, BC – University of Nebraska-Omaha
Bringing in a player with championship pedigree is always a beneficial factor for any team and Penticton saw that in acquiring Evers, who won the Fred Page Cup as season ago with the Surrey Eagles and now leads the Vees in scoring with 12 points in the opening 10 games of the season. The UNO commit has points in each of his last five contests, registering three goals and five assists for eight points in that span.
- Conyr Hellyer – Forward – Okotoks, Alberta – Arizona State University
Back-to-back three point games for Hellyer places the Vees captain amongst the leaders in scoring in his attempt to will his team to a win in Sherwood Park on Saturday and falling just short. A commit to ASU, Hellyer, like Evers, also has points in each of his last five games, earning three goals and six assists for nine points in that span with six of those points coming in his last two games.
The Saints and Vees play in the second of their four-game season series on Sunday with puck drop slated for 2:00 PM. Fans are encouraged to bring a helmet and a pair of skates and head on the ice following the final buzzer for a Skate with the Saints.
