GAME RECAP: Five Different Goal Scorers Help Saints To Win Over Eagles

The Spruce Grove Saints showcased their resilience and offense with a 5-2 victory over the defending Fred Page Cup champions, the Surrey Eagles. Despite playing their third game in four days, the Saints looked anything but fatigued as they delivered a dominant performance.

The action began in the first period when Carson Lloyd notched his first BCHL goal, giving the Saints an early lead. The Eagles quickly responded to even the score at 1-1, but the Saints seized control shortly after. Ryan Johnstone and Matheson Mason scored back-to-back goals, pushing the Saints ahead 3-1 by the end of the first frame.

In the second period, Massimo Fazio cut into the lead with a power-play goal, bringing the Eagles within one. However, the Saints answered back with a power-play goal of their own, courtesy of Max Seguin, extending their lead to 4-2. Before the period was over, Josh Polak added to the scoreline with his fifth goal of the season, securing a 5-2 advantage.

The third period saw a flurry of penalties and scoring chances, but the Saints’ defense, anchored by goaltender Ryan De Kok, held firm to preserve the win. The Saints will return home to play the Penticton Vees on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
