Spooky night was a scary success at the Grant Fuhr as the Spruce Grove Saints pulled off a thrilling 5-4 shootout victory over the West Kelowna Warriors.
The Saints dominated the first period, jumping out to a 3-0 lead with two goals from Max Seguin and one from Owen Leckelt. The Warriors battled back in the second period, netting two goals to cut the lead to 3-2.
In the third period, Josh Polak made a crucial play, scoring a short-handed goal to give the Saints a 4-2 advantage. But the Warriors wouldn’t go down without a fight, scoring twice more to even things up at 4-4 and force overtime.
After a scoreless overtime, the game headed to a shootout. Stephen Kirkpatrick stepped up and sealed the win for the Saints, making it a 5-4 victory. The spooky night turned into a celebration for the home crowd, as the Saints skated away with two points.
