GAME RECAP: Kronewitt Plays Late Hero As Saints Down Crusaders For First Home Game Win

The Spruce Grove Saints emerged victorious in a thrilling 4-3 win over the Sherwood Park Crusaders on Saturday night, splitting the home-and-home series this weekend.

Matheson Mason got the Saints off to a hot start, opening the scoring early to give them a 1-0 lead. However, Christian Chouha quickly answered for the Crusaders to tie things up at 1-1. The Saints regained control soon after as Ryan Johnstone found the back of the net to make it 2-1, and Mason struck again, scoring his second of the night to extend the lead to 3-1.

The Crusaders weren’t done, though, scoring twice in the second period to tie the game at 3-3.

With both teams battling hard throughout the final frame, the Saints began to press offensively halfway through the period. Finally, Ethan Kronewitt broke the deadlock, netting the game-winner for the Saints late in the third to secure the 4-3 victory.
