Blair Erickson and Brett Barnes both registered their first BCHL goals as the Spruce Grove Saints remain undefeated in 2026 with a 6-3 win over the Okotoks Oilers.
Max Holland kicked the game off with an early goal to put the Saints up 1-0.
The second period was tilted in favor of the Saints as they posted three goals coming from Brady Witkin, Brandon Funk and Blair Erickson. Although the middle frame saw most of the offense coming from the Saints, the Oilers were able to get on the board with a goal from Jeff Niehaus to set the game at 4-1 headed into the final period.
Gabriel Simpson opened the scoring in the third period to cut the game in half and give the Oilers some life. A few minutes later, Declan Waddick scored his tenth of the season to put the Saints up 5-2. Brett Barnes then put the final nail in the coffin with a shorthanded empty-net goal to set the game at 6-2. With less than two minutes left, the Oilers were able to register one more goal and the game concluded with a 6-3 win for the Saints.
