The Spruce Grove Saints fell to the Sherwood Park Crusaders by a final score of 6-2.
The Crusaders set the tone early, with Matthew Croxall opening the scoring in the first period to give Sherwood Park a 1-0 lead. However, the Saints quickly responded, as Alexy Lachaine found the back of the net to even the game at 1-1 heading into the intermission.
In the second period, Carson McGinley restored Sherwood Park’s lead, making it 2-1 with a sharp finish. Once again, the Saints answered back, this time through Teo Pisani, who tied the game at 2-2 with a timely goal.
The momentum shifted at the end of the middle frame when Sherwood Park scored two consecutive goals. In the third period, the Crusaders scored two more unanswered goals, leaving the Saints unable to respond. The offensive burst secured a decisive 6-2 victory for Sherwood Park, who capitalized on defensive lapses by Spruce Grove to seal the win.
The Saints will look to bounce back against the Blackfalds Bulldogs on Wednesday night.
