The Spruce Grove Saints fell 4-1 to the Chilliwack Chiefs in the final game of the BCHL showcase. Despite generating numerous scoring opportunities, the Saints struggled to find the back of the net, going 0-for-5 on the power play.
After a scoreless first period, the Chiefs broke the deadlock early in the second frame, putting themselves ahead 1-0. They doubled their lead in the final frame, making it 2-0.
The Saints provided a spark of hope late in the game when Kiefer Miller found the net, cutting the Chiefs’ lead to 2-1. However, a pair of empty-net goals from Dakota MacIntosh sealed the game for Chilliwack, bringing the final score to 4-1.
The Saints went 0-1-1 in the BCHL showcase. They will look to get back into the win column against the Surrey Eagles Friday night.
