In game two of the first round, Charlie Derrheim scored the lone goal for the Spruce Grove Saints as they fell 4-1 to the Brooks Bandits. With the loss, the Saints fall 0-2 in the series.
The first period saw the Bandits score the opening goal halfway through the frame. The Saints had opportunities on the power play but were unable to capitalize.
In a penalty-filled middle period, the Bandits scored two goals (including one on the power play) to take a 3-0 lead over the Saints headed into the final frame.
The third period began with a goalie change that saw Joseph Quintilio coming in for Finn Marshall. Early into the frame, Charlie Derrheim scored a shorthanded goal to get on the board for the Saints and set the score at 3-1. However, the Bandits responded 20 seconds later to restore their three-goal lead and win 4-1.
The Saints return to Thompson Family Arena on Tuesday and Wednesday for games three and four.
