SPRUCE GROVE, AB – The Spruce Grove Saints were faced against the Trail Smoke Eaters, ultimately falling 7-2 in a lopsided matchup. The Smoke Eaters came out blazing in the first period, netting five goals to put the Saints in a deep deficit right from the start.
Colin Doherty gave the Saints a glimmer of hope early in the second period, putting them on the board to make it 5-1. However, Trail quickly regained momentum with Lucas Lemieux adding their sixth goal.
In the final frame, Callas Pierce extended the Smoke Eaters’ lead to 7-1. Despite a late effort, the Saints could only manage one more goal, with Ethan Kronewitt finding the net to close the game at 7-2.
