GAME RECAP: Saints Season Comes To Close With Loss To Bulldogs In Final Game at Grant Fuhr Arena

At the final game at Grant Fuhr Arena, the Spruce Grove Saints fell to the Blackfalds Bulldogs in a gut-wrenching 4-3 decision. Although the Saints fought hard and posted 43 shots, they were unable to grab the two points they needed to stay in their postseason push.

Austin Borggaard opened the scoring halfway through the first period to put the Bulldogs on top and put Saints fans on the edge of their seats.

However, the second period was slated in the side of the Saints with Matheson Mason and Stephen Kirkpatrick scoring to take a 2-1 lead over the Bulldogs. Although, the lead only lasted one minute as Thomas Neu scored late in the period to send the game into the third frame tied at two.

Headed into the most nerve wracking period of the season, the Saints were filled with determination. However, that determination was quickly diminished when the Bulldogs were awarded a penalty shot and ended up scoring to go up 3-2. Jason Davenport then scored a few minutes later to give the Bulldogs an insurance goal. Things were looking bleak until Josh Polak scored his 21st goal of the season to bring the Saints within one. However, the Saints were unable to capitalize on any opportunities after Polaks goal and fell 4-3 in a heartbreaking loss.
