In tonight’s matchup against the Salmon Arm Silverbacks, the Spruce Grove Saints were shut out by a final score of 3-0.
After a scoreless opening period, Maddux Martin broke the deadlock midway through the second frame putting Salmon Arm up 1-0. The Saints struggled to find offensive momentum due to the Silverbacks power play advantage.
In the final period, Salmon Arm added two insurance goals, including one on the power play, extending their lead to a decisive 3-0. Special teams were a key factor, as the Silverbacks capitalized on the momentum that comes with six power plays, while the Saints were not granted a power play in tonight’s game.
The Saints will look back to get into the win column tomorrow night against the West Kelowna Warriors.
