NEWS: Saints Add Forward Owen Cronan For 2026-27 Season

Spruce Grove Saints General Manager Rob Sklaruk announced Wednesday the team has signed forward Owen Cronan (’08) for the 2026-27 season.

Cronan, 18, comes to Western Canada for the first time in his hockey career following playing the last four years at Groton School based out of Groton, Massachusetts. The 5’11”, 150-pound forward suited up in 99 career games for his high school squad, collecting 17 goals and 23 assists for 40 points over that span. The Ashland, Massachusetts native compiled a career high 10 goals and 22 points in 26 games with Groton School this past season while registering 26 goals and 61 points total in 47 games played between Groton and the East Coast Militia U18 AAA team.

Hockey is in the bloodlines for the Cronan’s as Owen’s father, Earl, played professionally including in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Fredricton Canadiens alongside of Saints assistant coach Boyd Olson. Owen’s sister, Madison, just wrapped up her freshman year at Colgate University.

“I am really excited to join the Spruce Grove Saints organization,” began Owen, “From everything I have experienced so far, this is a team built on a strong culture and a tight knit community. This is an opportunity for me to continue to develop as a player and have success on and off the ice.”

Cronan skated with the Saints as a “black ace” toward the end of last season and made an immediate impact, “Getting the chance to see Owen with our group last season made our staff know he will have success at this level,” commented GM Rob Sklaruk, “Owen is a quick skater who positions himself well in all three zones of the ice and is responsible with the puck.”

Owen and the Saints will hit the ice in early September ahead of the start of the 2026-27 campaign. Season tickets are now on sale and available at tickets.sgsaints.ca to catch all of the exciting hockey action at Thompson Family Arena!
