The Spruce Grove Saints Hockey Club is pleased to announce forward Max Seguin (’04) has committed to the University of Ottawa for the 2025-26 season.
The Orleans, Ontario native spent his 20-year-old season in Spruce Grove, amassing 11 goals and 17 assists for 28 points while playing in all 54 games during the season. Max was named team captain ahead of his final season of junior hockey and captained the Saints through the 2024-25 campaign.
The 6’0”, 185-pound forward previously spent time with the Bonnyville Pontiacs prior to his season in Spruce Grove where Seguin registered 42 goals and 111 points in 113 games with the Pontiacs.
General Manager Rob Sklaruk is happy to see another player advance to play at the next level, “It’s always a great day for our program when players find a home after their junior career,” mentioned Sklaruk, “Max is a great player and more importantly a terrific person and we couldn’t be happier to see him move on to the University of Ottawa.”
Seguin looks back fondly on his time with the Saints and is looking forward to playing closer to home, “I’m thrilled to commit to the University of Ottawa,” stated the 20-year-old, “As defending National Champions, their program is outstanding and I am eager to contribute to their continued success both on the ice and in the classroom.”
“My time with the Saints has been instrumental in preparing me for this next step,” continued Seguin, “They’ve not only helped me with my game but also provided me with all the tools to develop as a student-athlete. I’m incredibly grateful for their support and excited to embark on this new chapter with the Gee-Gees. Once a Saint, Always a Saint!”
Spruce Grove begins their new season ushering in a new era at the Thompson Family Arena on Friday, September 19th as they host the Brooks Bandits to kick-off the 2025-26 BC Hockey League season.
