Spruce Grove Saints General Manager Rob Sklaruk announced Thursday the team has committed to Slovakian forward Robert Fedor (’05) for the 2025-26 season.
Fedor, who hails from Humenne, Slovakia, will embark to Western Canada for the first time in his life and play his final season of junior hockey with the Saints in Spruce Grove. The 6’2”, 183-pound forward began last season with HK Michalovce, an Under-20 team where he posted six goals and 16 points in 15 games before spending 26 games with HK Dukla Michalovce, who play in the highest professional level of hockey in Slovakia.
The embarkment to Spruce Grove will not be the first time Fedor will make his way to Canada to play as he represented his country at the IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships in Ottawa overt the holiday season where the Slovakian netted a goal in two games played at the tournament.
While being the first Slovakian to ever sign with the Saints, GM Rob Sklaruk is excited about what he can do in North America, “It’s exciting for us to be able to attract players from all over the world and Robert is a great one for our program,” said the Saints GM, “Having played at the highest level of Slovakian hockey and the World Juniors, Robert brings a tremendous amount of talent and experience to our hockey club.”
The Canadian impression for Fedor that was made in Ottawa was a strong one to come back, this time to the Western side of the country, “I’m so excited to be part of the Saints organization,” mentioned Fedor, “I can’t wait to start my new chapter in Canada and in Spruce Grove.”
Spruce Grove begins their new season ushering in a new era at the Thompson Family Arena on Friday, September 19th as they host the Brooks Bandits to kick-off the 2025-26 BC Hockey League season.
