Spruce Grove Saints General Manager Rob Sklaruk announced Wednesday the team has omittedd to defenseman Max Holland (’06) for the 2025-26 season.
Holland, 19, joins the Saints after spending each of the past three seasons at the Culver Military Academy, based in Culver, Indiana. The 5’11”, 172-pound blueliner posted 16 goals and 57 points in 67 games last season while captaining the team in his 18-year-old season.
The San Francisco, California native also provided a pair of goals for Culver at the USA 18U Nationals in Pennsylvania and also has a tie to the Saints already having played with current forward Alexy Lachaine during the 2023-24 season at Culver.
The defender will keep with his military route that he started at Culver once his junior hockey career comes to a close as he is committed to attend Army Military Academy.
“Max brings a lot of great attributes as a person while attending Culver and set to head to Army,” said Saints GM Rob Sklaruk of Holland, “On the hockey side, Max has shown strong offensive play while also being a reliable defender in his own zone. We look forward to seeing what he can accomplish in Spruce Grove.”
A move to Canada and Spruce Grove is something Holland is looking forward to experiencing, “I am super excited to join the Saints family and can’t wait to play for the Spruce Grove fans,” commented Holland, “I’m looking forward to living in Canada and having a great year as a team.”
Spruce Grove begins their new season ushering in a new era at the Thompson Family Arena on Friday, September 19th as they host the Brooks Bandits to kick-off the 2025-26 BC Hockey League season.
