NEWS: Saints Welcome Austrian Forward Felix Haiböck For 2025-26 Season

Spruce Grove Saints General Manager Rob Sklaruk announced Monday the team has committed to Austrian forward Felix Haiböck (’06) for the 2025-26 season.

Haiböck, 19, comes to Spruce Grove following his first season in North America last year, suiting up with the Wisconsin Windigo in the North American Hockey League (NAHL) in the United States. The hulking 6’3”, 209-pound forward produced five goals and 13 points in 33 games to go along with 91 penalty minutes on the season.

The Linz, Austria native also represented his country last year at the 2025 World Junior Championship Division I Group A tournament in Bled, Slovenia. The Austrians came within a game of advancing to this year’s World Junior Hockey Championship, slated for St. Paul, Minnesota, but fell just short in a tight 5-4 loss to Team Denmark. Haiböck collected three goals in the five games he played in the tournament.

The Austrian forward is also slated to attend Western Michigan University when his junior hockey career comes to a close with the Broncos fresh off of their first National Championship in program history after the 2024-25 season.

With Haiböck in the fold, the Saints get a player who can add a lot of size to their forward group, “Felix has a big frame and is a player who we see can win a lot of board battles and use his size to his advantage,” said GM Rob Sklaruk, “He is not afraid to engage in physical play and we look forward to seeing how his skills play out with our team this season.”

After coming close to winning the Division I World Junior Championship, and playing 10 games in the playoffs with Wisconsin, Haiböck is looking to contribute to a winning team in Spruce Grove, “I’m super pumped to be part of the Saints organization,” said the forward, “I can’t wait to get there and get started for the new season and accomplish something big together.”

Spruce Grove begins their new season ushering in a new era at the Thompson Family Arena on Friday, September 19th as they host the Brooks Bandits to kick-off the 2025-26 BC Hockey League season.
