Spruce Grove Saints General Manager Rob Sklaruk announced Monday the team has signed forward Owen Leckelt (’07) for the 2024-25 season.
The Sherwood Park, Alberta native joins the Saints after spending the past two seasons with the Titans Hockey Union 18U team playing in the Junior Prospects Hockey League (JPHL). Over the course of 66 regular season contests, Leckelt compiled 21 goals and 33 assists for 54 points.
Saints General Manager Rob Sklaruk says, “Owen is a tireless worker who has the ability to get in on the forecheck, turn over pucks and turn them into offensive opportunities. He is a smart and crafty player with the puck and has a soft touch around the net.”
Checking in at 5’11” and 170 pounds, the 17-year-old is no stranger to the Saints organization, having suited up in three games with the team during the 2023-24 BCHL campaign. Leckelt is also a product of the Saints Pro Hockey Academy, playing out of the Hockey Super League (HSL).
