NEWS: Scott Sandilands Joins Saints for 2025-26 Season

Spruce Grove Saints General Manager Rob Sklaruk announced Friday the team has signed forward Scott Sandilands (’07) for the 2025-26 season.

Sandilands, 17, comes to the Saints from the Calgary International Hockey Academy of the Canadian Sports School Hockey League (CSSHL) U18 team, playing in his second consecutive season there. The 5’11”, 152-pound forward scored seven goals and added 12 assists for 19 points in 36 games with Calgary IHA last season.

In addition to his play at the U18 level, the Carstairs, Alberta native has played in four games of junior hockey, two during the 2023-24 season with the Calgary Canucks in the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) while playing in two more games with the Olds Grizzlys last season.

After two seasons at the U18 level, GM Rob Sklaruk is looking forwards to Sandilands development with the Saints, “Scott is someone who is responsible in all three zones of the ice,” commented Sklaruk, “We are looking forward to having him work with Bram and the rest of our coaching staff in developing into a strong junior hockey player.”

“I chose the BCHL because it’s one of the top junior leagues for developing talent, building character and opening doors to bigger opportunities,” mentioned Sandilands, “When I first came into contact with the Saints organization, I knew it would be an amazing opportunity for my development not just as a player but also as a person.”
