Spruce Grove Saints General Manager Rob Sklaruk announced today the acquisition of 2004-born Austin Peters from the Chilliwack Chiefs in exchange for future considerations.

Peters, 20, comes to Alberta following his first season in the BCHL with the Chiefs, after posting two goals and 15 assists for 17 points in 42 games played a season ago.

“We are very excited to get a high quality veteran player like Austin, added to our group,” commented Sklaruk. “He possesses Division I level speed and has an offensive mind with a high development ceiling. With the right opportunities given, he will flourish and has the ability to consistently produce offense with the Saints.”

Prior to his time with the Chiefs, the 5’10”, 168-pound forward spent two seasons with the Portage Terriers of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL), registering 20 goals and 42 assists for 62 points to finish 2nd in team scoring during the 2022-23 season while that season also saw Peters rank 8th overall in MJHL scoring.

The Winnipeg, Manitoba native has also secured an NCAA commitment, slated to head to the University of Maine and join the Black Bears following his junior hockey career.
