The Spruce Grove Saints are pleased to announce the signing of defenceman Jacob Hamel for the 2026-2027 BCHL season.
The Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec product joins the Saints after spending last season with the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies of the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). The 6-foot, 180-pound left-shot defenceman appeared in 43 games during the regular season, recording one goal and two assists.
“We are excited to welcome Jacob to the Saints organization,” said Saints General Manager Rob Sklaruk. “Jacob has already gained valuable experience at the junior level, and we believe our environment in Spruce Grove will provide him with an excellent opportunity to continue developing his game. We look forward to seeing what he can bring to our group this season.”
“I’m really excited to join the Saints and get started in Spruce Grove,” said Hamel. “I’m looking forward to getting to know my teammates, working with the coaching staff and continuing to develop my game in a great environment.”
The Saints would like to welcome Jacob and his family to the organization and the City of Spruce Grove.
The Saints open the 2026-2027 BCHL season at home on Friday, September 18, when they host the Sherwood Park Crusaders at Thompson Family Arena, followed up by a Sunday, September 20 afternoon game against the Okotoks Oilers.
