Saints Sign Xander Miceli for 2024-2025 Season

The Spruce Grove Saints are proud to announce 19-year-old goaltender Xander Miceli has committed to the Saints for the 2024-2025 season.

Miceli joins the Saints after spending last season with the Cornwall Colts of the Central Canada Hockey League. In 27 games between the pipes, Miceli posted a 2.51 goals against average (GAA), .915 save percentage (SV%) with a record of 15 wins, 8 losses and 5 shutouts in the regular season. In the playoffs Miceli, had a 2.27 GAA and .925 SV% to go with 3 wins and 1 loss.

Saints Goaltending Coach Brad Guzda, who has worked with Miceli in the past, spoke about the incoming goaltender, saying, “Xander is a big athletic goalie, who has a tremendous work ethic to go with his excellent positional play. He is just a great young man who always wants to get better and do whatever it takes to be at his best and help his team win. Spruce Grove fans should be very excited about Xander becoming a Saint.”

Standing 6’4”, 181 pounds, Miceli is an imposing figure in the net. Saints General Manager Rob Sklaruk was very pleased to add Miceli to the organization, adding “Bringing in a top tier goalie like Xander is another step in fulfilling our goal of adding depth at each position. Brad (Guzda) already has a great working relationship with Xander so his transition into our team should be accelerated. We are thrilled he chose to join the Saints.”

The Nashville, Tennessee product is excited to travel out west to play in the BCHL with the Saints.

“As a player you always want to try and play at the highest possible level with where you’re at in your development. The Saints and playing in the BCHL next season provide that opportunity. When you add that I already have a strong trust in the goaltending philosophy of Brad’s, the Saints just made too much sense and I cannot wait to get to Spruce Grove.”

The Saints would like to welcome Xander and the Miceli family to the organization.
