The Spruce Grove Saints are proud to announce the appointment of Martin Lachaine as the organization’s full-time Head Coach.
Lachaine, who assumed the role on an interim basis in January of 2026, quickly established a strong foundation of positivity, accountability, and resilience within the Saints dressing room. Stepping into the position during a challenging point in the season, Lachaine demonstrated tremendous courage and leadership in helping guide the organization to a solid winning record.
Throughout his time behind the bench, Lachaine earned the respect of players, staff, and management through his ability to help build individual and team confidence. His leadership style emphasizes trust and character, creating an atmosphere where players genuinely enjoy coming to the rink each day to compete for one another and the organization.
“Martin represents what the Saints organization stands for,” said General Manager Rob Sklaruk. “His commitment to building culture, developing young athletes, and creating an environment centered around accountability and humility made this decision an easy one for our organization.”
In addition to his coaching duties, Lachaine will continue to serve as the organization’s Assistant General Manager. He will, however, place his previous responsibilities as Vice President of Business Operations on hold as he focuses fully on leading the Saints players and coaching staff.
Lachaine brings a unique and valuable blend of hockey, business acumen, and educational experience to the Saints organization. His background includes coaching experience at the U18 Prep level in Quebec, combined with years of successfully owning and operating several businesses. This combination of leadership experience provides Saints players with mentorship that extends well beyond the game of hockey, helping equip young athletes with tools and life skills necessary for success in their future endeavors. Lachaine is a graduate of Middlebury College with a degree in Economics, where he also captained their hockey program three out of four seasons, while capturing a National Championship during his tenure.
The Saints organization is excited for the future under Lachaine’s leadership and look forward to continuing to build a culture that makes the Spruce Grove community proud.
