In Game 2 of the wildcard series between the Spruce Grove Saints and the Okotoks Oilers, the Saints were edged out 3-2 by the Oilers.
The game started with Matthew Lesyk (Wetaskiwin, AB) scoring his first-ever junior career goal, putting the Saints ahead 1-0. However, the Oilers responded later in the period, with Owen MacNeil tying the game at one.
Early in the second period, Ryan Johnstone of the Saints regained the lead for his team, making it 2-1. But the Oilers fought back, with Jack Silverberg scoring to level the game at 2-2 halfway through the frame.
In the final period, Jagger Tapper of the Oilers scored the lone goal, securing a 3-2 victory for Okotoks. With the loss, the Saints now face elimination as they look ahead to Saturday’s game.
