Saints Fall 6-2 In Game 1 Of Wild Card Series

In the first game of the wildcard series between the Spruce Grove Saints and the Okotoks Oilers, the Oilers emerged victorious with a final score of 6-2. 

The game started with an early goal from Connor Gourley of the Oilers, giving them an early lead. 

Dean Spak extended the Oilers’ lead with another goal in the middle frame, making it 2-0. However, Alexander Babich, hailing from Chicago, IL, responded with a rebound goal to bring the Saints within one. The Oilers then regained momentum with two consecutive goals, bringing the score to 4-1 in their favor heading into the third period. 

The Saints fought back early in the final frame when Stephen Kirkpatrick, from Edmonton, AB, scored to cut the deficit to 4-2. Despite this effort, the Saints were unable to mount a comeback as the Oilers netted two more goals in the final period, securing a 6-2 victory in the game.
