NEWS: Gabriel Kenny Returns To Saints

Spruce Grove Saints General Manager Rob Sklaruk announced Tuesday the return of defenseman Gabriel Kenny (’06) for the remainder of the 2025-26 season.

Kenny, 19, began the season in Spruce Grove before joining the Minot Minotauros of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) where the 6’3″, 181-pound defender suited up in 28 games with the club to go along with 25 penalty minutes.

The Ardrossan, Alberta native played in 45 games with the Saints a season ago where he registered a goal and five assists for six points in his first season in the BCHL.

Adding a physical element and a familiar face on the back end was something that made a lot of sense for Sklaruk and the Saints, “Gabe brings a rugged style of play and his familiarity with our team and players from last season will make for an easy transition,” mentioned the Saints GM, “His experience in the BCHL will also help as we push closer toward the end of the season.”

Kenny will return to the lineup tonight as the Saints host the Trail Smoke Eaters at Thompson Family Arena in their first game back from the BCHL All-Star Weekend. Puck drop is slated for 7:00 PM with tickets available for purchase online at tickets.sgsaints.ca.
