Spruce Grove Saints General Manager Rob Sklaruk announced Monday the team has added former NHLer Dustin Kohn to the hockey staff as an assistant coach ahead of the 2025-26 season.
Kohn, 38, comes to the Saints after spending the past three seasons as the Player Development Coach with the Saskatoon Blades of the Western Hockey League (WHL) while also serving as the head coach of the Titans Hockey Union at the 17U and 18U levels in the Junior Prospects Hockey League (JPHL) for each of the past two seasons.
Prior to his time behind the bench, Kohn played in 22 games in the NHL for the New York Islanders and suited up in 212 games on the blueline for their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. The Edmonton, AB native also spent four years overseas playing professionally in Sweden, Czechia, and England before making his way back to Canada to begin his coaching career. Dustin recently completed a Masters program in Sport Psychology and Athletic Development at the University of Alberta.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to join the Saints,” Kohn said, “It’s an exciting chance to learn under Head Coach Bram Stephen, get behind the bench at a higher level while staying close to home, and apply my experience and education in a role dedicated to helping young players get better every day.”
The Saints would like to welcome Dustin and his family to the organization.
