Spruce Grove Saints General Manager Rob Sklaruk announced Thursday the team has committed to defenseman Kohyn Pipke (’07) for the 2025-26 season.
A native of Westlock, Alberta, Pipke spent last season with the Drayton Valley Thunder in the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) where he collected eight goals and 26 points in 54 games during his first season of junior hockey. His campaign was good enough to finish as a finalist for the AJHL’s Rookie of the Year award while also earning a spot on the AJHL South All-Rookie Team.
GM Rob Sklaruk was encouraged with how strong of a season Pipke had last year, “We have watched Kohyn for quite some time and are very excited to have him join the Saints,” commented Sklaruk, “He had a great rookie season and we think his skating ability will translate very well into the BCHL.”
For Pipke, having the chance to join the Saints for the final stretch of the regular season last year helped in preparing him for his BCHL career, “Being around the guys and getting a sense of the team and city definitely helped me make my decision to join the Saints,” mentioned Pipke, “I’m really looking forward to getting started with the Saints and helping this team work towards a championship.”
The Saints would like to welcome Kohyn and his family to the organization and the City of Spruce Grove.
