The Spruce Grove Saints have added to their hockey operations staff, ahead of the 2025-26 season with the promotion of Boyd Olson to Director of Scouting.
Olson has been with the Saints for the past three seasons as an Assistant Coach and will now step into the role of scouting, joining General Manager Rob Sklaruk in identifying players for the Saints roster while also assisting on the coaching side as well.
Drafted 138th overall by the Montreal Canadians in the 1995 NHL Draft, Olson played three seasons with the Tri-City Americans in the WHL, playing in 133 games and earning 29 goals and 58 points from the blue line. The Edmonton, Alberta native suited up in 225 career AHL games, splitting time with the Fredericton Canadiens and Quebec Citadelles before later finding his way into coaching.
The Saints are also pleased to welcome Brandon Switzer back for his fourth season behind the bench as an Assistant Coach.
Switzer played parts of two seasons with the Whitecourt Wolverines in the AJHL from 2013-2015 before joining the Flin Flon Bombers and suiting up in 88 games, amassing 45 goals and 61 assists for 106 points during his tenure. The Brandon, Manitoba native played a season with the University of Alaska-Anchorage before beginning his coaching career with the Creston Valley Thundercats in the KIJHL during the 2021-22 season before joining the Saints.
