NEWS: Saints Welcome Kazakhstan Native Karim Kazhibekov For 2025-26 Season

Spruce Grove Saints General Manager Rob Sklaruk announced on Saturday the team has committed to forward Karim Kazhibekov (’06) for the 2025-26 season.

Kazhibekov, 19, makes his first visit to Canada and Spruce Grove following his first season in the MHL, Russia’s top junior league, with Snezhyne Barsy Astana where the 6’2”, 185-pound forward produced 11 goals and 21 points in 43 games played while also adding three goals and 11 points in six games with MHK Barys Astana in the top junior league in Kazakhstan.

The Ust-Kamenogorsk, Kazakhstan native will embark on Canada for the first time with General Manager Rob Sklaruk eager to see how his game translates on North American soil, “Karim is a quick skater while using his size to his advantage very effectively,” commented Sklaruk, “We think those attributes will really help him adapt to the BCHL quickly and be an effective player in Spruce Grove.”

The Saints begins their new season ushering in a new era at the Thompson Family Arena on Friday, September 19th as they host the Brooks Bandits to kick-off the 2025-26 BC Hockey League season.
